Half the distance and still full speed
It couldn’t be a better start, as the race begins with a lot of Munich feeling and Bavarian flair, at the Chinese Tower. The start is at 1:30 p.m., so that even runners with a finishing time of 3:00 hours can easily finish the distance.
The running course is the second part of the original marathon route, through the east of Munich past famous landmarks of Munich city centre and with the big finish: the Olympic Stadium.
Smoke, music and the cheering crowds – the finish and the last 300 metres on the stadium circuit are simply unforgettable! And then, with a clear conscience and a big smile on your face, you say: G’schafft!
Let’s go in the English Garden at the Chinese Tower. Traditional brass band music plays from the tower, which, with a bit of luck, you can also hear at the start.
The route crosses the ISAR and goes through the districts of Bogenhausen, Denning and Berg-am-Laim in MUNICH’S EAST.
HAIDHAUSEN is one of Munich’s most trendy districts. Past the GASTEIG and DEUTSCHEN MUSEUM we return to the city centre.
This is followed by one SIGHTSEEING ATTRACTION after the next. Since 2019, your marathon route will take you through the VIKTUALIENMARKT and the heart of Munich – the MARIENPLATZ.
One of the most important symbols in Munich is located in the middle of the old town – the ODEONSPLATZ. Odeonsplatz is home to famous buildings such as the Feldherrnhalle, the Residenz Palace and the Theatinerkirche.
Ludwigstraße and xxxstraße are famous as boulevards.
Running through the heart of Schwabing. ELISABETHPLATZ and ELISABETHSTRASSE were named after the Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sisi, in 1898.
YOU HAVE MADE IT! The finish through the legendary Marathon Gate into Munich’s Olympic Stadium will be remembered forever
