Unforgettable: Christoph Kopp – top athletes and top times were his life.
Sitting on a motorcycle, accompanying and looking after the lead group, that’s how Christoph Kopp of International Sport Service Berlin was known, who steered the race at the front at the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON and other major running events.
Last Friday he died at the age of 75. With his death, we and the world of sports lose a tireless and passionate athlete manager. He was not only an outstanding manager, but also a loyal friend and mentor to many athletes he coached throughout his career. Christoph was one of the kindest, most helpful and reliable people you could meet in your life. He always put his heart into his work and was an expert in his field who knew the running industry like no other. He was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his work. His death is a great loss for the world of running, but also for all those who were lucky enough to have him as a friend. We owe Christoph the course records in 2000 and 2022, and in both races he assembled together the elite field for us.
Christoph will live on in our hearts and memories. His passion, dedication and genuine love for running will always remain in our thoughts and hearts. We will miss him, but we will always remember him as a person who enriched the lives of his athletes and friends. Thank you for everything Christoph!
