Brief outlook and update for the 35th GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON on October 10, 2021:

The preparation of a comprehensive protection and hygiene concept has been completed and agreed with the Munich authorities. It was confirmed that the current legal situation allows participation in the race under certain conditions. This means that our concept of checking all participants for 3Gs in advance, accrediting them and providing testing capacities on site will come into effect. So participants could start the race vaccinated, recovered or with a valid negative test result.

A much bigger challenge are the “spectators”. Although we would provide a secure area with access controls at the entrances of the Olympic Stadium, we as organisers are also supposed to be responsible for all other people on the course. As a result, we have revised our concept and offered secured spectator areas along the running track. Whether this proposal will convince the authorities is currently being examined. However, the general problem of distinguishing a spectator from a passer-by remains. This has already been signalled.

We are currently waiting for their statement and will then announce whether the 35th GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON can be realized on October 10, 2021. In any case, the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON will take place hybrid, i.e. also digitally. We are currently in the process of programming our own app and great features can be expected. The participants can look forward to the VIRTUAL RUN that will be held from 10.10.2021 to 31.12.2021.
