GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON

Marathon in the BAVARIAN CAPITAL

Those who run the supreme discipline over 42,195 km need stamina. The whole thing is rewarded with numerous sights of the Bavarian capital. The finish line to the Olympic Stadium through the Marathon Gate is legendary. Since 2020, the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON has carried the bronze label of the WORLD ATHLETICS and the marathon course has been officially measured and recognised.

The route runs from the Olympic Park to Leopoldstraße with the Victory Gate, via Königsplatz and the Pinakotheken to the English Garden. From there it passes the Chinese Tower and Bogenhausen Art Nouveau villas, through the east of Munich and over the Isar Bridge. Then it’s off from Marienplatz to the new route highlight 2021: the Viktualienmarkt! Then non-stop via the Bavarian State Opera and our Residenz to Odeonsplatz. The final spurt goes via the Theatinerkirche over Ludwigstraße back to the Olympic Stadium – to the Grand Final!

The goose bumps begin with the last 300 metres: in the big marathon gate the runners are immersed in a scenario of fog, music, applause and loud cheering. The home stretch of the Olympic Stadium is the final metres of GMM 2021. G’schafft! That’s what they say in Bavaria.

By the way: the course record of 2:09:46 has been unbroken for 20 years. Do you accept the challenge?
